Machine Learning in Economics project has received funding by CENTRAL-Kollegs 2019

03/10/2019

The project, coordinated by our colleague František Čech, consists of two workshops.

One was held during the international conference “Statistics of Machine Learning” that took place in Prague at the end of September 2019 and was co-organized by the Humboldt and Charles University. Students had a chance not only to present their current progress and findings but also meet top researchers in the field attending the conference, i.e., Oliver Linton from Cambridge University, Wolfgang Karl Härdle from Humboldt University.

The second workshop will be organized in early November 2019 and hosted by Humboldt University. It will address the issue of „Inference in ML models“. The date of this workshop coincides with two events organized by the Humboldt University, Hirschfeld Lecture Series 2019 and Hilda Geiringer Lecture 2019, and it creates the perfect opportunity for young researchers to meet world-class econometricians Charles F. Manski and Xiaohong Chen.

CENTRAL-Kollegs are a format for research-based learning aimed at junior researchers at partner universities of the CENTRAL-Network (University of Warsaw, University of Vienna, Eötvös Loránd University, Charles University, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) who will develop and carry out an independent research project with students.
