Petr Teplý invited to talk about green finance at the Embassy of France
Our colleague Petr Teplý delivered a presentation "Green finance as a seriously taken issue or a PR game?" at the international Green Finance Conference held on 12 November 2019 at the French Embassy in Prague (Petr's presentation is available HERE).
Petr talked about green finance and climate changes in the context of bank risk management and regulation as part of his research. He highlighted that bank capital requirements should also reflect climate-related risks and therefore the recent proposal by the European Commission to grant risk weighting “discounts” for green assets (so called a green supporting factor) could be risky for financial stability of the EU banking sector. Moreover, he also discussed the green bond premium in theory and practice.
Further conference speakers included Mrs. Charlotte Gardes (the French Ministry of Finance), Mr. Martin Račan (the Czech Ministry of Environment), Mr. Frank Sibert (BNP Paribas) and Mr. Nik Černomorský (Deloitte).
