The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) features on its homepage the research paper "Did the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Reduce Profit Shifting by US Multinational Companies?" by Petr Janský, Javier Garcia-Bernardo, and Gabriel Zucman, in which the authors examine whether and how the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act affected profit shifting by US multinationals abroad. They conclude that the share of US multinationals' profits booked abroad fell by bewteen 3 to 5 percentage points, which they attribute mainly to the repatriation of intellectual property. NBER found this research very interesting.
