2012
2012 IES Economic Meeting: Challenges in Financial Stability took place at the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. This one-day workshop focused on the financial stability issues in Central and Eastern Europe. Iftekhar Hasan (Fordham University) kindly agreed to give a keynote lecture during the workshop. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of Economic Systems under the guest-editorship of Roman Horvath (Charles University) and Laurent Weill (University of Strasbourg).
2011
Panel discussion "Down to Earth: Economics, Politics and Reality" (6.10.2011) seeked to assess the width of the gap between theoretical and applied economics on the one hand, and analytical practices of innovative capital investors and „practical“ economists on the other hand. The opening ceremony of the exhibition for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the OECD prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held on October 31st, 2011 in the IES. The event was attended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs represented by Prof. Karel Dyba, Ambassador Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the OECD in Paris and former Minister for Economic Policy and Development, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences Dr.Končelík and Director of IES Dr. Martin Gregor, who opened the exhibition. 2010
Academic Lessons in Economic Policy (May 12th, 2010) took off a series of special events devoted to the anniversary of 20 years of politically independent education in Economics at Charles University. The speakers were distinguished economists and practitioners who are also regular lecturers at Charles University. More than 100 experts from academica, government, Czech National Bank and professional associations took part. The program including presentations (in Czech) and photo gallery are available.
Conference "20 Years After" (October 18th, 2010) was a gathering of father founders of Economics at Charles University and the oncoming generation of academic economists. The topics covered the tradition of economics in the country, current trends in research, and how to communicate economics in the convenient way to students and to the general public. The intergenerational discussions reflected the state of economics at Charles University at present, its influence on economic policy and its future perspectives. EXPO2010 workshop "European Union and China in a Turbulent Time" (September 7th, 2010) was a joint workshop of the Center for European Studies of Fudan University and Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. A full list of presentations and photos are available. The workshop took place in a very interesting venue of the Czech Pavilion in Expo 2010 Shanghai. Research workshop “Voting, Power and Manipulation” (September 23-24th, 2010) has been organized in cooperation with the Institute of SocioEconomics of Hamburg University and the Public Choice Research Centre of University of Turku. The workshop served to advance research and foster further joint research cooperation in the relevant topics, for both PhD candidates and senior staff. See the complete program and photos.

- Conference Globalization and Rising Competition: Challenges for the Czech Economy (May 2008) with keynote speech delivered by OECD Secretary General, Angel Gurria.
- Workshop The Economics of Democratic Governance in European Union (March 2007), a joint Prague-Wroclaw research project.
- Workshop European Union 50 Years After: Modelling Economics and Politics of European Integration (September 2007), organized jointly with Europaeum (a consortium of European universities, including Oxford, Helsinki, Bologna and Paris I).
- Workshop European Integration, Structural Change and its Impact on European Foreign Policies (March 2007), a joint event with East China Normal University (ECNU) Shanghai.
