16.04.2018 - Public Economics Seminar: Public interest defense of cartels and corporate income tax reforms

All researchers and students are warmly invited to the Public Economics Seminar this Thursday between 12:30 and 13:50 in room 105 at IES. During this week's research seminar there will be two presentations. First, Lukáš Tóth (University of Amsterdam) will give a talk with a title "Public interest defense of cartels". Then, Petr Janský will discuss recent research assessing the impact of the corporate income tax reforms with the focus on European tax base shifts under a range of policy scenarios.

26.03.2018 - Guest lecture by Aleš Chmelař, State Secretary for European Affairs

Aleš Chmelař, the Czech government's State Secretary for European Affairs, will be a guest in the second half of tomorrow's lecture of Principles of Economics II. He will give a lecture on "European labour market, Eurozone and the future of the EU". The lecture starts on Tuesday 27 March at 11:00, and the guest lecture is from 11:40 to 12:20. Aleš Chmelař studied at Sciences Po Paris and London School of Economics. He worked at the Center for European Policy Studies in Brussels and the Czech Government Office before becoming the State Secretary for European Affairs last year (for more information see, for example, the government's website). All students are warmly welcome.

23.04.2013 - A special guest lecture by Jan Libich on the Global Financial Crisis: room 314, April 24th, Wednesday, at 8 am

Let me invite you to a special guest lecture by Jan Libich on the Global Financial Crisis. This will be the last lecture of Principles of Economics II, but all interested students and other colleagues are invited to come and enjoy his interesting views of the causes, propagation, policy responses, and lessons (not) learnt. The lecture will take place in room 314 on April 24th, Wednesday, at 8 am.

22.04.2013 - Apply for PhD in Economics (deadline April 30)

If you are finishing your Master degree, you are encouraged to apply for a Ph.D. program in Economics at the IES. As a Ph.D. student, you receive stipends, retain benefits of being a Charles University student, have opportunity to apply for grants, can publish work in scholarly journals and increase your value on both academic and non-academic job market. Please also note that open positions at the Center for Doctoral Studies, which provide further funding and other opportunities for selected academically-oriented Ph.D. students, will be announced shortly.

Professor Manfred J. Holler (University of Hamburg and Public Choice Research Centre at the university of Turku) will have a guest lecture on “Value versus Utility” on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 8 am in room 314, as a part of an introductory course, Principles of Economics I. 18.05.2012 - Reminder: JEM139 - Integrity, Law and Economics

A new intensive course of "Integrity, Law and Economics" will be taught in a week of 21.5. - 25.5. 2012. A number of lecturers from abroad as well as the Czech Republic will give lectures in selected topics. The course starts with the first lecture on Monday at 9.30 in room 314. All advanced Bachelor level students as well as Master level students are more than welcome to enroll and take the opportunity to attend insightful lectures and take part in the team projects. Vladimír Dlouhý je poradce Goldman Sachs, člen NERV a také přednáší hospodářskou politiku na IES. Vladimír Dlouhý promluví na téma "Česká republika a krize Eurozóny" a bude se zájemci diskutovat o otázkách jako například: Co je potřeba udělat pro akutní stabilizaci eurozóny? Jan Švejnar je ředitelem think tanku IDEA při CERGE-EI a profesorem globální ekonomie na Columbia University v New Yorku. Jan Švejnar promluví na téma "České republice v evropské a světové ekonomice" a bude se zájemci diskutovat například i důležitost analýz veřejných politik a jaká doporučení z nich vyplývají.

07.06.2010 - Termín odevzdání tezí bakalářských prací je 11.6.2010

V souladu s Harmonogramem akademického roku FSV musí studenti, kteří mají v úmyslu předkládat bakalářskou diplomovou práci na konci LS 2010/2011, odevzdat tezi své práce do 11.6.2010 garantovi bakalářského studia prof. Mlčochovi osobně či prostřednictvím schránky na sekretariátu. Formulář teze v prokliku.
