Professor Jan Švejnar (Columbia, CERGE-EI) will talk about the topic “Czech Republic in the European and Global Economy” on Wednesday May 11 between 8:20 and 9:20 in room 314 as a part of the Principles of Economics II lecture. All students are very welcome.

27/04/2013 - Job positions open for 6 Ph.D. students at the Center for doctoral studies at the IES

We recommend that the applicants as well as the current first-year Ph.D. students consider applying for one of the six positions (0.1 part-time) now open in the Centre for doctoral studies of the IES with the beginning of September 2013. One of the requirements is to be a full-time Ph.D. student during the 2013/2014 academic year. The applications together with CV, personal form, verified copies of the education attained, a list of academic publications and at least one academic recommendation should be sent by May 24 to HR office at FSV UK, Smetanovo nábř. 6, 110 01 Praha 1. 23/04/2013 - A special guest lecture by Jan Libich on the Global Financial Crisis: room 314, April 24th, Wednesday, at 8 am

Let me invite you to a special guest lecture by Jan Libich on the Global Financial Crisis. This will be the last lecture of Principles of Economics II, but all interested students and other colleagues are invited to come and enjoy his interesting views of the causes, propagation, policy responses, and lessons (not) learnt. The lecture will take place in room 314 on April 24th, Wednesday, at 8 am.

22/04/2013 - Apply for PhD in Economics (deadline April 30)

If you are finishing your Master degree, you are encouraged to apply for a Ph.D. program in Economics at the IES. As a Ph.D. student, you receive stipends, retain benefits of being a Charles University student, have opportunity to apply for grants, can publish work in scholarly journals and increase your value on both academic and non-academic job market. Professor Manfred J. Holler (University of Hamburg and Public Choice Research Centre at the university of Turku) will have a guest lecture on “Value versus Utility” on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 8 am in room 314, as a part of an introductory course, Principles of Economics I. 18/05/2012 - Reminder: JEM139 - Integrity, Law and Economics

A new intensive course of "Integrity, Law and Economics" will be taught in a week of 21.5. - 25.5. 2012. A number of lecturers from abroad as well as the Czech Republic will give lectures in selected topics. The course starts with the first lecture on Monday at 9.30 in room 314. All advanced Bachelor level students as well as Master level students are more than welcome to enroll and take the opportunity to attend insightful lectures and take part in the team projects. An information meeting for Ph.D. in Economics applicants will take place on 3rd April 2012 at 17:00 in room no. 601.  This is an optional meeting with the Director of Graduate Studies, Prof. Jan Ámos Víšek, and an administrator, where applicants will have the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the Program and its admission process.
