10/02/2017 - Deadline for Masters Thesis Proposals is February 10, 2017

If you want to defend your thesis at the end of the Winter Semester 2017/2018, your deadline is February 10, 2017 (use the "Thesis" module in SIS). You must send the proposal (following the example available on the website of JEM001 in SIS), approved by your supervisor, to mejstrik@fsv.cuni.cz, tomas.havranek@fsv.cuni.cz, and zuzana.havrankova@fsv.cuni.cz by e-mail till February 10, 2017. You can choose from a list of offered topics in the SIS or come up with your own topic. In any case, you must find a suitable advisor. Please note that the supply of advisors is limited, and most of them accept students on a first come, first served basis.

10/06/2016 - Deadline for Sending Abstracts to CNB Research Competition is June 15

Prospective authors of research projects at the Czech National Bank are asked to express their interest by sending a summary (containing the title, the names of the research team members, a 100–200 word abstract, and an indication of the addressed priority topic such as A.1) to the following e-mail address: research.call@cnb.cz.

11/04/2016 - Czech National Bank Research Open Day 2016

We invite all students and faculty members to the twelfth CNB Research Open Day, which will be held in the Czech National Bank’s Commodity Exchange (Plodinová burza) building on Monday, 16 May 2016.

This event will provide an opportunity to see some of the best of the CNB’s current research work, to learn about the CNB Call for Research Projects 2017, and to meet CNB researchers informally.

09/04/2015 - Deadline for Master's Thesis Proposals is June 19, 2015

The topic of your thesis must be confirmed by your supervisor in the Student Information System one year before the thesis defense. So if you want to defend your thesis at the end of the Summer Semester 2015/2016, your deadline is June 19, 2015. Use the "Thesis (Selection of subject)" module in SIS to assign to your topic. You can choose from a list of offered topics (the SIS and http://ies.fsv.cuni.cz/en/node/258) or come up with your own topic. In any case, you must find a suitable advisor. If your topic is not on the list, ask your supervisor to publish it. We recommend you choose a narrowly defined empirical topic. You can have one more month to submit the detailed thesis proposal (following the template and the example available on the website of JEM001 in SIS) if you agree on this with your supervisor ex ante. You must send the proposal, approved by your supervisor, to mejstrik@fsv.cuni.cz, tomas.havranek@fsv.cuni.cz, and zuzana.havrankova@fsv.cuni.cz by e-mail till July 19, 2015.

If you want to defend your thesis at the end of the Winter Semester 2015/2016, the deadline is February 13, 2015. Send the proposal (following the template available on the website of JEM001 in the SIS) to all teachers of the master thesis seminar by February 13. You can choose from a list of offered topics or come up with your own topic and try to contact a suitable advisor. I recommend you choose a narrowly defined empirical topic. Use the SIS module "Thesis (Selection of subject)" to assign to your topic. If your topic is not in the list, ask your supervisor to publish it. Please read carefully the information available on the seminar website in the SIS.

08/05/2014 - Deadline for Master Thesis Proposals is June 20, 2014

If you want to defend your thesis next year in the summer semester, your topic must be confirmed by your supervisor in the Student Information System by June 20, 2014 (use the "Thesis" module).
Then by July 31, 2014, you must send the detailed thesis proposal, conforming to the template and approved by your supervisor, to mejstrik@fsv.cuni.cz , tomas.havranek@ies-prague.org, and zuzana.irsova@ies-prague.org. Note that this version of the proposal should not be signed; you and your supervisor will only sign the final version later on.
You can choose from a list of topics in the SIS or come up with your own topic. In any case, you must find a suitable advisor willing to work with you.

14/02/2014 - Meta-Analysis Colloquium in Athens

We would like to invite interested PhD students and faculty members to the eighth annual MAER-Net colloquium, which will be hosted by the Economics Department of Athens University, Greece, on September 11-13, 2014. Two-page proposals are due by June 1. You can download the conference flyer by clicking on the title of this post.

Next year the event will be held at the IES.

The seminar will feature a guest speaker, Jan Babecky from the Czech National Bank, currently ranked among the top 5 Czech economists acording to RePEc. Dr. Babecky will give a lecture on Financial Integration at Times of Financial Instability. The seminar starts at 5 pm on Wednesday, May 15, in room 314.

16/05/2012 - Invitation to a Research Seminar at the CNB: Tom Stanley

Professor Tom Stanley, the pioneer of meta-analysis methods in economics, will give a seminar on Friday, May 25, at the Czech National Bank. The seminar will begin at 10 am and it will be a general introduction to meta-analysis. We have five places available for IES students; if you want to come, please write to tomas.havranek@ies-prague.org till Friday, May 18.

You can choose from a list of offered topics or come up with your own topic and contact a suitable advisor. Note that the supply of advisors is limited, and most of them apply the first-come, first-served rule. Once again, it is extremely important that you have your topic approved by your supervisor, registered in SIS and you send us thesis proposal by February 17. Use the module "Thesis (Selection of subject)" to assign to your topic.
