|Description:||In this project, we set out to analyze public finance systems and public budgets in their broad context. We will combine political economy approach with a more mainstream economic analysis. The project will start with the analysis of budgetary institutions and their relationship to budgetary outcomes. We aim to provide evidence on how legislative institutions affect budgetary performance. This understanding of fiscal policy institutions will allow us to analyze vigorously sustainability of public budgets. In this part of the project we plan to zoom in on the Czech public budgets. We will analyze composition of the local public spending, but most attention will be given to major government spending programmes – pensions and health care. We will also analyse dynamics between fiscal and monetary policies and roots of financial crises that were triggered by unsustainable fiscal policies.|
