Description: The aim of this project is to develop a solid analytical framework based on economic theory that will serve as a tool for fundamental economic investigation of the issue of energy security. The energy security is currently a broadly discussed topic both on the national and on the EU and international level, the debate, however, has been so far based mostly on political opinions rather than on a complex analysis of the economic fundamentals of the energy security problems. The core of this project is therefore an original research of the economic relations that impact the energy security by means of methods usually deployed in other fields of economics – such as are quantitative finance models, meta- analysis, and game theory, among others. The results of this research shall contribute to establishment of a consistent set of economic methods that could be used for evaluation of new and existing policies of energy security. In order to achieve the objectives of this project, it is necessary to carefully explore both the economic methods that can be deployed for analysis of the energy security issues and the functioning of the energy markets, energy sector and of the policy-making in the field of energy security. Therefore the team for this project consists of researchers as well as from experts with professional experience in various segments of the energy sector.
