Abstract: This thesis focuses on how macroeconomic performance is affected by the extent of centralization of wage bargaining. Chapter I. gives the basic information about unions and collective bargaining. Chapter II. deals with the theory of L. Calmfors and J. Driffill which has brought specific innovation to such discussion. The theory is than compared with real macroeconomic data. Chapter III. focuses on the critique of the C – D argument.
