Miroslav Palanský organizes an international workshop presenting new data supporting tax abuse research
Multinational tax abuse continues to erode public revenues, yet research has long depended on aggregated data that cannot answer key policy questions. Newly available administrative micro-data—such as corporate tax returns, CbCR filings, and information-exchange records—now enable precise measurement of tax abuse, causal analysis, and more effective policy evaluation. Access to these datasets, however, remains uneven and lacks common standards.
To address this, the Tax Justice Network and Skatteforsk, together with partners including the EU Tax Observatory, the World Bank, UNU-WIDER, ATAF, the South Centre, and Charles University, are hosting a workshop in Prague. Our colleague Miroslav Palanský, as the main local organizer, is bringing leading experts in the field to Prague.
The meeting will:
- launch a database of 340+ studies using administrative tax data;
- bring together researchers and data-providing institutions to share practical lessons;
- produce a joint report summarising insights and best practices for research–government collaboration.
This workshop marks the beginning of a broader effort to build a global network supporting safe, rigorous, and collaborative use of administrative tax data. A follow-up meeting is planned for Q2 2026 in Accra.
