New course: JEM344 Technology Economics

Why enroll in this course?

Are you interested in how modern empirical methods are practically applied in economics and the technology sector? Do you want to learn about real problems that technology companies face and learn how to analyze and solve them? The aim of this new course is to impart practical skills suitable for both academic research and for application in technology companies, startups or consulting. The combination of theoretical understanding of methods, work with professional texts, case studies (e.g. from companies such as Zalando, Uber, Spotify or Airbnb) and joint discussions form a key part of the course.

The lecturer:
The course will be led by IES graduate Bruno Baránek, winner of the Young Economist of the Year 2020 award, who studied in Barcelona, ​​Mannheim, and received his doctorate from Princeton University. His dissertation focused on developing models for detecting corruption and collusion in public procurement. He worked professionally as an economist and data team manager at Amazon in New York.

Practical info: 

The course takes place every Thursday from 5 pm in room 206. 
It only starts on the second week of the semester - on Thursday, February 26.
