Everybody who applied for Erasmus+ program should have received an invitation for an interview  by email last week. If there is somebody who applied and did not receive the invitation email, please check your spam folder and, in any case, please come for your interview on March 13 at 8 am.

If you applied for Erasmus+ program, reserve yourself March 13 (Thursday) from 8 am to 5 pm for Interviews. All applicants will receive an email with more information in the first week of March (invitation for an interview and more precise timing of the interview).

19/02/2014 - Erasmus+

The IES got 54 Erasmus+ slots with guaranteed financing and additional 20 slots for substitutes (substitutes can leave abroad only for the summer term). Use this information together with our internal Ranking of Universities to predict your chance to get finances for your stay.

19/02/2014 - Study Abroad in China

The International Office would like to inform about an opportunity for FSS students to study abroad in China at Peking University HSBC Business School in Shenzhen. Erasmus+ is coming. FSV will make public its Notice for 2014 in a few days. Online application system opens on Feb. 15 and closes (most likely) on Feb. 27. Follow FSV web pages. You can check meanwhile updated selection rules at the IES and an updated Ranking of partner universitites.

23/10/2013 - Česká spořitelna Competition Results

Bachelor thesis of Jan Šedek (Creditor coordination model - discrete case and limit behaviour) and Master thesis of Tomáš Klinger (Systemic risk and sovereign crisis) were awarded the Prize of Česká spořitelna for the best bachelor and master thesis defended in summer 2013. Congratulations!

Competition of the Česká spořitelna in the framework of the CS Corporate Chair program: Competition for the best bachelor and master thesis defended at the IES in summer term 2013. Necessary condition for participation is a grade 1 (excellent) from the defense of the thesis. The award is CZK 15,000. Please email your thesis at by July 31, 2013. A) Erasmus Interviews at the IES take place on Monday, March 11 from 9 am to 2 pm. If the interview is relevant for you, you will get an email invitation in the week starting March 4 (using email address that you filled in your application). B) This year, IES gets funding for 50 five-month stays and 14 five-month stays for substitutes. Substitutes can leave for abroad only in summer term. C) If you get nominated, do not forget that the only criterion whether you will get financing or not, is our internal quality/preference ranking of partner institutions.

19/02/2013 - New Bloomberg Assessment Test Sessions

New BAT testing session at the IES will be held on March 11, March 25, April 19, May 16 and May 27, each time from 9:30 to 12:30. Those of you who have already taken the test and want to retake it, can do it and it is free of charge. Place: computer room 016 - you need to know login and password to IES PCs or you need to bring your own laptop and use open wi-fi access. Online applications here.

07/08/2012 - CS competition - Masters

Mgr. Blanka Weyskrabová won the 1st prize in the competiton of Česká spořitelna for the best master thesis defended in summer 2012. Mgr. Radek Janhuba won the 2nd prize.  Eleven theses were submitted into competition. Congratulations to winners and thank you to all participants for their great representation of the IES.

07/08/2012 - CS competition - Bachelors

Bc. Jana Malíčková won the 1st prize in the competiton of Česká spořitelna for the best bachelor thesis defended in summer 2012. Bc. Pavel Dvořák won the 2nd place. There were 16 theses submitted into competition. Congratulations to winners and thank you to all for great representation of the IES.

03/05/2012 - Česká spořitelna Competition

Česká spořitelna announces a competition for the best bachelor and master thesis defended at the IES in the summer term 2012. This competition is held in the framework of Česká spořitelna Corporate Chair program. Two bachelor and two master theses will be awarded. The theses can have any topic. The prize for the best thesis is CZK 10.000,-. The prize for the second best thesis is CZK 5.000,-. Submit your thesis by Saturday, May 19 (including) electronically at the following email:, to the subject line: write either CS competition - Bc. or CS competition - Mgr. The winning theses will be selected by a committee consisting of Pavel Vacek, Česká spořitelna Corporate Chair, Prof. Dědek and Doc. Cahlík after the end of State exams in June 2012.

Dear students,
The deadline for applications is February 29, 2012, 10 h at IES Secretariat, prepare all the documents specified in a decree. You can find information about selection process for Erasmus study stays here.
Important clarification: We confirm that one of the requirements of this selection to the Erasmus is study average to 2.0 , which is calculated on the basis of the present study according to the FSV extract from SIS, the arithmetic average of all marks obtained by calculating also evaluations "failed" (value 4). Students print SIS extract themselves, ie. no need of Transcript of Grades from Study Department. Commission in specific cases may consider whether to send for Erasmus a candidate who does not satisfy the required average.

30/05/2011 - A new compact course: JEM138 - Selected Topics in Financial Intermediation

will be taught by Dr. Marie Hoerová from the ECB and PhDr. Pavel Vacek, PhD. The course is targeted for the 3rd year bachelor students and for all master students. It is a 3 credit, optional course (alternative A). The course runs from Monday May 30 to Friday June 3rd. Please see syllabus for more information.

24/03/2011 - Erasmus Selection Procedure

Erasmus Selection Procedure at the IES for 2011/2012 academic year takes place on Tuesday, March 29. Selection Committee will nominate students on the basis of the following critera: 1. study level (MA students have a priority to BA students), 2. study average (based on info from registrar), 3. quality of the project, 4. formal demands of partner university. Interviews will take place in the following days only in cases when based od criteria 1-4 it will not be possible to decide whom to nominate at the particular university.

01/03/2011 - SUNY New Paltz Exchange Program Fall 2011

Apply for an Exchange Program at SUNY New Paltz in the USA for Fall term 2011. Students do not pay tuition and they will have free of charge accommodation in the dorms. Students pay all other expenses on their own (health insurance, studying materials). Two students will be selected. You have to study in the Master Program of Economics in the Fall 2011 to be eligible for the exchange program. Your CV, transcript of grades for BA and MA study, motivation letter and application form and course selection form, copy of your passport email to:, by Monday 5 pm, 14 March 2011. Special guest - Professor Robert C. Lind will visit the first lecture of Antitrust Economics (Monday, Feb 21  from 17 to 18:20, room 109). Robert Lind is Professor Emeritus of Economics, Management, and Public Policy at the Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University. The focus of his research, teaching, and consulting has been on regulatory issues, public policy, antitrust policy, and investment and productivity. Dr. Lind has consulted to a wide range of government agencies on public policy issues and has served as an expert witness in corporate litigation and international arbitration involving antitrust and competition, intellectual property, and damages analysis. He has testified before government regulators, courts, and international tribunals in the United States, Canada, and Europe on behalf of clients in the banking, energy, telecommunications, insurance, and high-technology industries. Dr. Lind has published widely, and between 1972 and 1996 he was among the top five percent of publishing economists cited in professional literature as determined by Who’s Who in Economics.

Dear students, if you plan to apply for money from the Mobility Fund, it is good to know that priority is given 1. according to the study level, i.e. Ph.D. students > Master students > Bachelor students, and 2. preference is given to funding of study stays based on inter-university agreements to inter-faculty agreements.
