Principal investigator: doc. Ing. Tomáš Cahlík CSc.

Description: In the last decades, the world entered into a period of slower economic growth. Rate of innovation and rate of technological change, resulting from research and development activities, are quite broadly discussed among the reasons of this slowing. From the re-born of growth theory in 1980´s, the most of research has been dedicated to endogeneous growth models. In these models we can almoust always find explicit or implicit connections with research and development. In the existing endogeneous growth models, mostly a fairly mechanical view of the production of new technologies is taken. Innovations which have technological conntent, are the fruit of numerous interactions between scientists, researchers, marketing people and users. These interactions create a special network, socio-cognitive network, that can be analysed as a special case of social networks. Socio-cognitive network gives us the possibility to overcome in the modeling of the production of new technologies the fairly mechanical view. The main goal of this project is to study the possibilities if integrating socio-cognitive networks modeling the process of research and development into models of economic growth. For empirical studies, the data concerning the Czech republic will be used as much as possible. This will make possible to use the potential results directly in suggestions for research and development policy in the Czech republic.
