Abstract: | In this paper, we calculate Theil index for a group of EU countries from 1950 to 2001 – it shows decrease of inequality among countries in that group, i.e. the convergence of GDPs/capita. We develop two “entropy” interpretations of this convergence process – the first one based on the Shannon´s entropy concept and the second one based on the Boltzmann´s entropy concept. |
