Abstract: | The readers of this monograph have in their hands a multidisciplinary book aimed at studying different aspects of central European socio-economic models and policies from different angles. In spite of the rather methodological character of a number of its chapters, those policies should not be seen as purposeless. The authors’ core interests are the identification of problems, incentives, barriers and traps that people face and the analysis of affected parties with diverse vested interests. Having identified the problems at various abstract levels, the authors try to develop and analyse diverse policies that they regard as an operational yet secure and sufficient social safety net. What is seen as the appropriate mix of human labour flexibility incentives and security features depends on each of the authors individually. This allows for a multifaceted analysis of relevant policies. |
