Abstract: Graduation thesis is engaging in financing of public universities in the Czech Republic and in analyzing of the economy of Charles University in Prague.
Object of the first section this thesis is the view of the present system of financing of public universities in the Czech Republik, the analyse of present problems in university education and description feasible solutions. Second section attends to the detailed analysis of the economy of Charles University in Prague during several last years. This analysis includes structure and evolution of the earnings, costs and assets and liabilities of the university.
System of financing public universities in the Czech Republic, which I described in the first section, appears very unsatisfactory for needs of the public universities and for society in the Czech Republic. Economy of Charles University in Prague reflects the situation which is in the present system of financing university education. Analysis shows big financial deficiency in basic activity of the university and this deficiency must compensate profit of the additional activities.
