Abstract: The study has examined the labour markets in association with gender relations and economic development and the possible connection of gender and human development and economic growth. For the purpose of the analysis nine similarly developed countries were chosen to represent different cultural and economic background: Australia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States. In these countries, the Human Development Index and Gender Development Index was compared with the economic development in following years and the relation between the indices and development was analyzed. In addition, for better comparison, the Equally Distributed Education Attainment Index was included and correlation of the EEAI and GDP growth was analysed. Although, the figures indicated several similarities among selected countries, the relation of the index and economic growth was not certain
