||This thesis deals with the instruments of housing policy in the Czech Republic. First the characteristics of the housing market are described and it is investigated whether market failures and inefficiencies exist there. These defects of the housing market should economically justify state interventions. Also non-economic justifications for state interventions are drafted. After that instruments of housing policy in the Czech Republic are introduced and structured. In the next part theories and approaches are introduced which explain the functioning of the housing market and economic consequences of the most important housing policy instruments. At the end of the paper political explanation for state interventions in the housing market is examined.
