Abstract: The thesis deals with the supervision of financial markets in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The aim is to compare the parameters of systems of supervision and give details concerning the single institutions of supervision, their scope, organisation and financing. Further, attempt to assess the strategies of both republics in the supervision system reform is made.
The first part gives the rationale for economic regulation of financial market and outlines different systems of regulation and their classification. The second part briefly describes the history and development of financial markets supervision with an emphasis on the development in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In the following part the individual supervision institution in both countries are described, with details on the scope of supervision organisation, independence, financing and coordination.
The last two parts discuss the recent trends in financial supervision. First, the models of supervision are presented with possible alternatives of institutional design. Consequently, the strategies of both republics in their future development are assessed with a focus on integrated supervision
