In line with the amended law on university education, new full-time doctoral students at IES FSV UK are entitled to receive a net doctoral income of at least 120% of the official minimum wage. This financial support is typically composed of a scholarship provided by the university (about 40% of the doctoral income), and additional funding from an employment contract (remaining 60%, typically as part of a current research grant or project at IES or at a cooperating institution such as institutes of Academy of Science). In general, the IES targets the net doctoral income to be about 20-30% above the minimum doctoral income required by law.
Further, doctoral students can receive additional income in two other ways. First, by being involved in leading tutorial activities (seminars) above the amount required by the PhD program (i.e., two tutorial slots rather than one tutorial slot). Second, by serving in the Center for Doctoral Studies (CDS), the administrative body supporting the PhD program at IES (this position requires an excellent knowledge of the Czech language due to the need to communicate with various departments of the University).
