Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024
Finance: 101-150th in the world
Who is eligible? To be included in a subject ranking, the universities need to have a minimum number of research publications during the five-year period. The publication threshold is different for different subjects. Bibliometric data are collected from InCites. Web of Science categories are mapped to 52 academic subjects.
How is the ranking calculated? There are five indicators; four are related to publications and citations, and one is about the number of Nobel Prize laureates. For each indicator, institutions are calculated as a percentage of the top scored institution and then multiplied by the allocated weight. A final score is arrived by adding scores for all indicators. Weights on the indicators are field-specific. For details, follow this link.

QS World University Rankings 2024
Economics and Econometrics: 141st in the world
Who is eligible? In order to feature in any discipline table, an institution must meet three simple prerequisites: (1) Exceed the minimum required score for the academic and/or employer reputation indicators. (2) Exceed the five-year threshold for number of papers published in the given discipline. (3) Offer undergraduate or taught postgraduate programs in the given discipline.
How is the ranking calculated? Each of the subject rankings is compiled using four sources. The first two of these (about 50%) are QS’s global surveys of academics and employers, which are used to assess institutions’ international reputation in each subject. The second two indicators (about 50%) assess research impact, based on research citations per paper and h-index in the relevant subject. These are sourced from Elsevier’s Scopus database.
