About Alumni

Welcome to the homepage of the Alumni Association. The Alumni Association has been operating since 1997 as a voluntary association of graduates of the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences at the Charles University (IES FSV UK).

The main tasks of the Alumni are organizing annual meetings (Banquets) of members and supporters of the Alumni, distinguished guests and sponsors of the Association, raising funds and providing other means of support for IES FSV UK. the Alumni Association continues to support selected teachers and students through the Alumni Chair program. This support is mainly carried out from the contributions of the sponsors of the Association. The membership in the Association is a valuable source of contacts of students, alumni and potential employers.

Any graduate of any degree program at IES FSV UK can become a member of the Alumni Association (Member). The membership results in joining the IES FSV UK Alumni group on LinkedIn. Communication among members is carried out through this group as well as posting banquet invitations or job offers. In the future, this group will be the only member database of the Association.

The Board is responsible for the functioning of the Alumni Association. We grately appreciate any help in organizing meetings and other activities from other (especially younger) members. Further information can be found in the

Members of the Association

As of today, there are more than 600 Members of the Alumni Association that received one of the academic titles from IES FSV UK. Most of our Members hold executive functions at multinationals, distinguished Czech companies or they focus on their own businesses. A significant part of our Members are academics who are working in distinguished positions at the Czech National Bank or international institutions.

Any graduate of any degree program at IES FSV UK can become a member of the Alumni Association. The membership results from joining the IES FSV UK Alumni group on LinkedIn. Communication among members is carried out in this group as well as posting banquet invitations or job offers. In the future, this group will be the only member database of the Association. There is also a list of current Members, visible for those who joined this Group.

If you are a member, you are welcomed to contribute and let the others know about their interesting colleagues. If this is the case, please contact us. We look forward to offering more inside the LinkedIn group.

How to contribute

The main tasks of the IES Alumni association are organizing regular meetings of the graduates of the IES, the networking of members of the association and support of the IES. At this time this support is focused mainly on the Alumni Chair. The Alumni Chair is a grant program for young potentials who work at the IES. We want to encourage those beginning research who are also dedicated to teaching in their work and thus help in further development of the IES FSV itself. The Alumni Chair would not be possible to award without you – former graduates who regularly donate at banquets or social events organized by IES Alumni. If you were not or could not be present at those events and still want to donate, we provide you with several possibilities how to do it.

Ways to give:

The easiest way to give is to send an optional sum of money to the IES Alumni account. If you are willing to prepare a donation agreement for tax deduction purposes, please write your email address into the message for the recipient. We will contact you and prepare it.

Pay by SMS and you can fill in the income tax return for free

You can fill in the income tax return and support the Alumni Chair HERE.
The SMS costs 299 CZK and apart from the mobile operator fee the whole sum goes to the IES Alumni. The company which operates this application does not charge any fees. This application has been designed thanks to the kind support of the IES graduate Ivo Brabec.

Non-financial help

If you are willing to be a volunteer and play an active role in the IES Alumni Association, please let us know how you can help. Send us an email on alumni@alumni.cz and we will contact you and discuss it with you. Currently we are searching for new mentors for the next round of Mentoring which will start in October, 2015. If you would like to help the students with the choice of the right career path and helping it to take off, it will be beneficial for both us and them.
