Student Awards and prizes

Graduates of IES FSV UK are known for their high-quality and in-depth knowledge and skills in the fields of economics and finance (see final theses), as well as their analytical abilities, which enable them to independently solve complex problems in various environments. Thanks to this flexible education, IES graduates are in high demand in the job market and easily find diverse career opportunities. The quality of graduates is also confirmed by numerous awards for their theses and other research.

  • The Czech Economic Society awarded the Young Economist of the Year 2025 prize

    On Thursday, 27 November 2025, the General Assembly of the Czech Economic Society took place, during which the awards for Young Economist of the Year for economists under 30, the Karel Engliš Prize, and the President’s Commendation of the CES for authors under 25 were also presented. We are pleased that all awards were received by students and graduates of IES FSV UK.
  • Golden Courses for the best courses of the Summer Semester 2024/2025

    Congratulations to our colleagues on receiving the Golden Courses -  traditionally awarded by the Faculty of Social Sciences after the end of each semester to the highest-rated courses from each institute. The awards for the Summer Semester 2024/2025 were presented on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 during the Academic Senate meeting. The award is accompanied by financial reward. 
  • IES Director presented the Awards for Distinguished Master’s and Bachelor’s Theses in September 2025

    The IES Director's Award for Distinguished Master’s and Bachelor’s Theses has been awarded since the beginning of 2024 at the occasion of each Bachelor's and Master's Final State Exams. These are organized as a thesis defense with a follow-up general discussion on the thesis topic and are held three times a year - usually in January, June and September.
  • Golden Courses for Winter Semester 2024/2025

    Congratulations to our colleagues on receiving the Golden Courses - traditionally awarded by the Faculty of Social Sciences after the end of each semester to the highest-rated courses from each institute.
  • IES Graduate Zuzana Meteláková wins 2nd place in a thesis competition

    IES Graduate Zuzana Meteláková won 2nd place in the Association of Deans of Economics Faculties Award for the best diploma thesis for her diploma thesis, which was supervised by Adam Geršl.
  • The Czech Economic Society presented its awards, two of them to our alumnae

    At the end of November, the 13th biennial conference of the Czech Economic Society took place, during which its traditional awards were presented. The "Karel Engliš Prize" for the best paper on Czech economic policy was presented to IES PhD candidate Tereza Veselá and the "Kateřina Šmídková Award," recognizing female economists with exceptionally high-quality publication activity, was presented to IES alumna Jana Cahlíková. Congratulations!
