Why study Economics and Finance at Charles University in Prague?

Our school teaches Economics and Finance both at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels with the aim of providing internationally highly competitive education in the beautiful city of Prague. The key features of our school are:

  • Quantitative skills. We build upon 7 core Mathematics, Statistics and Econometrics courses on the undergraduate level.
  • International environment. 88% of all Master's and 70% of all Bachelor's courses are in English. More than 1,500 international students from 83 countries have studied with us over the last 10 years.
  • Stay abroad. We offer 50 Erasmus+ exchange agreements, plus study-abroad opportunities out of Europe, including Australia, China, and South Korea.
  • Family size. 90 Bachelors, 80 Masters, and 5 PhDs graduate annually from our programs. Teaching as well as thesis writing is intensive and personal.
  • Top lecturers. We combine strong academics with practitioners, especially in the finance courses.
  • Hub of talent. We strive to develop the potential of the most ambitious students. Our alumni are highly successful on the job market and also receive numerous academic prizes and other accolades. The average wage premium of our graduates substantially exceeds the average wage premia of other schools in the country.

  • Golden Courses Awards for the Best Teachers of the Summer Semester 2023/2024

    We warmly congratulate our teachers of Econometrics I and Systemic Risk and Macroprudential Policy on receiving the Golden Course awards. The Golden Course awards are traditionally awarded at FSV UK at the end of each semester to the highest-rated courses.

    The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) has decided to support the project "MINITAX: Global Minimum Taxation and Multinational Corporate Investment," led by our colleague Prof. Petr Janský. Congratulations on securing this prestigious grant!

    Professor Ladislav Krištoufek, our colleague and Charles University Vice-Rector for Research, received a Medal of Merit in the Field of Science - from Czech President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle on October 28, 2024. Congratulations!

  • ACCA Presentation for IES Students

    Take advantage of the benefits of cooperation between ACCA and IES FSV UK. IES students can benefit from an additional exemption from the module of Financial Management in the ACCA program. ACCA representatives will come to present the ACCA Accelerate program for IES students on Monday, November 4, at 2 p.m. in room 109.

  • News in the operation of Opletalova library

    Opletalova library is now accessible to FSV UK students even when the librarian is not there. Just come between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and scan your student card to open it. In the library and associated study room, you will find study spaces, a calm and inspiring environment, as well as a self-service copier in MyQ mode.
