Research seminar: Gonul Colak (University of Sussex Business School)
We would like to invite you to a research seminar by Gonul Colak, Professor of Accounting and Finance at the University of Sussex Business School.
Paper: Trade-Credit Flow along Supply Chains and Disruptions from ESG Risk
Authors: Gonul Colak (University of Sussex), Jonas Gustafsson, Niclas Meyer (both Hanken School of Economics)
Abstract: Using an international sample of firms, we find that firms receive less (but do not extend more) trade-credit financing following intense negative media exposure to ESG incidents. This effect is most pronounced for downstream firms, i.e., firms that sell to end consumers. As a consequence of this punishment by suppliers, firms involved in ESG incidents are forced to finance operations with cash, thereby lowering their cash holdings post-incidents.
The seminar will take place on Friday, May 24, in Room 314 at 11:00.
You can read the full paper here.
If you need a discussion slot with Prof. Colak, please write to Martin Gregor, and he will try to find a suitable time.
