IES Director presented the Awards for Distinguished Master’s and Bachelor’s Theses
The IES Director's Award for Distinguished Theses was newly established in 2024.
It was awarded for the first time on the occasion of the June 2024 state final exams. You can find the list of the awarded theses below. -
The Czech Academy of Sciences awarded Michal Bauer with the title “Doctor of Science” (DSc.)
We would like to congratulate our colleague Michal Bauer on receiving the title "doctor scientiarum" (DSc.), awarded by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, which currently represents the highest scientific qualification in the professional career of a scientist in the Czech Republic.

Golden course awards for the best teachers of the winter semester 2023/2024
We warmly congratulate our teachers of Mathematics III and Advanced Econometrics on receiving the Golden Course awards. The Golden Course awards are traditionally awarded at FSV UK at the end of each semester to the highest-rated courses.

The Czech Economic Society has awarded two of our alumni
On November 30, 2023, the General Assembly of the Czech Economic Society took place, during which the Young Economist of the Year Award, the Karel Engliš Prize and the CES President's Award for authors aged 25 years or younger were also presented. We are delighted that two of these awards were won by our alumni - congratulations on your success!

Our alumnus, Jan Sinčák, has won the Professor Michal Mejstřík Award
He has received it for his exceptionally beneficial master thesis on "Machine Learning Methods in Payment Card Fraud Detection." The Award was presented during the Mastercard Bank of the Year 2023 gala evening. Congratulations!

Our scientists received the Bedřich Hrozný Prize
Within the celebrations of the 675th anniversary of the founding of Charles University, Michal Bauer and Julie Chytilová (IES FSV UK and CERGE-EI) received the Bedřich Hrozný Prize for Creative Achievement, for their publication of a study on the refusal of vaccination in the prestigious journal Nature.
