The IES Director's Award for Distinguished Master’s and Bachelor’s Theses has been awarded since the beginning of 2024 at the occasion of each Bachelor's and Master's Final State Exams. These are organized as a thesis defense with a follow-up general discussion on the thesis topic and are held three times a year - usually in January, June and September.

On Thursday, 27 November 2025, the General Assembly of the Czech Economic Society took place, during which the awards for Young Economist of the Year for economists under 30, the Karel Engliš Prize, and the President’s Commendation of the CES for authors under 25 were also presented. We are pleased that many of these awards were received by students or alumni of our Institute.

At the end of November, the 13th biennial conference of the Czech Economic Society took place, during which its traditional awards were presented. The "Karel Engliš Prize" for the best paper on Czech economic policy was presented to IES PhD candidate Tereza Veselá and the "Kateřina Šmídková Award," recognizing female economists with exceptionally high-quality publication activity, was presented to IES alumna Jana Cahlíková. Congratulations!
