Compact Courses in September 2026
In September 2026, we will again offer several compact courses in a “block” format, i.e., delivered over 2-3 days. All compact courses will count into the Winter Semester 2026/27 and are open for registration from September 1 until the first day of the course (included). Use the unique opportunity to meet visiting professors from universities abroad and gain new knowledge in economics and finance! -

Science at FSV UK: How do central bank decisions affect everyday life? Economist Simona Malovaná seeks answers
Central bank decisions often seem like a distant world of data and economic models. But according to economist Simona Malovaná, they significantly affect people's everyday lives. The researcher from FSV UK and director of the Research and Statistics Department at the Czech National Bank focuses on how monetary policy, financial regulation and climate risks affect different groups in society. The combination of analytical thinking and creativity led her to study economics. -
IES students receive Trezor hardware wallets to get experience with secure digital asset storage
Thanks to a generous donation from Trezor Company s.r.o., our students interested in fintech and digital assets received Trezor Model T hardware wallets. Hardware wallets play a key role in secure self-custody, as they store private keys offline and help protect users from common online risks such as hacking, phishing, and malware. We truly appreciate this valuable addition to the curriculum that opens the door to fintech practice. -
CFA Scholarships 2026
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute offers Awareness Scholarships granted to students interested in taking the CFA exams. The scholarship reduces the CFA Program enrollment and examination registration fee. How to apply? E-mail your application package to jiri.novak@fsv.cuni.cz no later than July 2, 2026 (23:59 CET). -
Apply for SDG Innovation Challenge
From 20–24 August 2026, the University of Copenhagen invites students from all disciplines and universities to make a difference at the SDG Innovation Challenge at UCPH Lighthouse. For five immersive days, students work in multidisciplinary teams to design solutions to real‑world sustainability challenges linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Submit your expression of interest by the end of May 2026.

Join the activities of student clubs E-klub and FSV UK Circle
The main goal of the IES students' club E-Klub is the positive development of scientific and social life at Charles University. It acts as a link between the IES management and its students. Currently, the E-Klub focuses on organizing lectures and a wide range of cultural or sporting events for IES students. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram not to miss any.
As an international student, you should also check out the recently established club for international students, called FSV UK Circle. -
Study abroad
Take the opportunity to study abroad! Erasmus+ is not the only option: Inter-university agreements and inter-faculty agreements provide many study-abroad opportunities; students may also study abroad with CEEPUS (eastern and central Europe). Alternatively, students may undertake an individual exchange as a freemover, if they organize the exchange by themselves.

Become a member of the Alumni group!
The Alumni Association has been operating since 1997 as a voluntary association of graduates of the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences at the Charles University (IES FSV UK). The main tasks of the Alumni are organizing annual meetings (Banquets) of members and supporters of the Alumni, distinguished guests and sponsors of the Association, raising funds and providing other means of support for IES FSV UK.
