Team of IES researchers was awared the Editors' prize for the best paper published in Experimental Economics for the year 2022

Team of researchers from our Institute consisting of Tomáš Havránek, Zuzana Irsova (Havránková) and Jindřich Matoušek was awared the Editors' prize for the best paper published in Experimental Economics for the year 2022 from the Economic Science Association (ESA). Their article "Individual discount rates: a meta-analysis of experimental evidence" was published 2021.

The team from IES in this research analyzes the results of 56 experimental studies that estimate discount rates - that is, how much people value the present over the future. This is an important parameter, for example, for measures related to climate change. They find that people are less patient when it comes to health than money. The results of laboratory experiments differ significantly from those of field experiments. The results of our colleagues also show that higher and statistically significant discount rates are easier to publish.

Congratulations!
