Submit your thesis to the competition for Josef Vavroušek Student Award which recognizes outstanding works of a social science or interdisciplinary nature with a social science overlap, following the legacy of Josef Vavroušek as a personality who advocated sustainable development as a harmonious coexistence of people, society and nature with an emphasis on responsibility towards future generations. From 20–24 August 2026, the University of Copenhagen invites students from all disciplines and universities to make a difference at the SDG Innovation Challenge at UCPH Lighthouse. For five immersive days, students work in multidisciplinary teams to design solutions to real‑world sustainability challenges linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Submit your expression of interest by the end of May 2026.

Oryna Yakovenko, Hana Holčíková, and Dung Le represented our Institute of Economic Studies and Charles University in the 11th edition of the prestigious international competition Global Case Competition at Harvard 2026. Competing against 229 teams, they reached the second-highest performance level out of five. Congratulations!

EU TalentOn is a five-day European scientific competition bringing together early-career researchers (aged 21–35) from across Europe, taking place from 7 to 11 September 2026 in Brest, France. Participants will attend coaching, workshops and networking activities. Travel, accommodation and meals are fully covered, and a total of €80,000 in prizes will be awarded. Applications close on 30 April 2026.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University announces the 30th public competition for Josef Vavroušek Award, subtitled Human Values and Civilization Development Problems. Competition will include Bachelor‘s, Master‘s, Rigorosum and Dissertation theses defended in the current and in the previous academic year. The deadline for application is 25 July 2025.
