  • CFA Scholarships 2024

    The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute offers Awareness Scholarships granted to students interested in taking the CFA exams. Full-time Charles University students at the Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral level are eligible for the scholarship. If interested, e-mail your applications to Dr. Jiří Novák no later than July 8, 2024.

  • International competition for young scientists Falling Walls Lab Czech Republic 2024

    On September 12, 2024, the 9th year of the Falling Walls Lab Czech Republic international competition will take place in the premises of the National Technical Library. The application deadline is set for 30 June 2024. The winner of the national round will represent the Czech Republic at the global final in Berlin.

  • Michal Bauer and Petr Janský became professors at Charles University!

    We’re excited to congratulate our colleagues Michal Bauer and Petr Janský on becoming professors at Charles University!

  • Compact Courses in September 2024

    During September 2024 we will be offering three compact courses that will be run in a “block” format, i.e. delivered over 2-3 days. All three courses will count into the Winter Semester 2024/25 and will be open for registration from September 1, 2024 until (and including) the first day of the course. Use the unique opportunity to meet visiting professors from universities abroad and experts from private financial institutions and gain new knowledge in economics and finance!

  • The Czech Academy of Sciences awarded Michal Bauer with the title “Doctor of Science” (DSc.)

    We would like to congratulate our colleague Michal Bauer on receiving the title "doctor scientiarum" (DSc.), awarded by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, which currently represents the highest scientific qualification in the professional career of a scientist in the Czech Republic.

  • Research seminar: Ulrich Schäfer (University of Vienna)

    We would like to invite you to a research seminar by Ulrich Schäfer, Associate Professor of Managerial Accounting at the University of Vienna, on "Information Leaks and Voluntary Disclosure". The seminar will take place on Wednesday, June 5, in Room 105 at 11:00.

Life at our Institute

  • Join the activities of student clubs E-klub and FSV UK Circle

    The main goal of the IES students' club  E-Klub is the positive development of scientific and social life at Charles University. It acts as a link between the IES management and its students. Currently, the E-Klub focuses on organizing lectures and a wide range of cultural or sporting events for IES students. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram not to miss any. 
    As an international student, you should also check out the recently established club for international students, called FSV UK Circle. 

  • Study abroad

    Take the opportunity to study abroad! Erasmus+ is not the only option: Inter-university agreements and inter-faculty agreements provide many study-abroad opportunities; students may also study abroad with CEEPUS (eastern and central Europe). Alternatively, students may undertake an individual exchange as a freemover, if they organize the exchange by themselves.

  • Become a member of the Alumni group!

    The Alumni Association has been operating since 1997 as a voluntary association of graduates of the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences at the Charles University (IES FSV UK). The main tasks of the Alumni are organizing annual meetings (Banquets) of members and supporters of the Alumni, distinguished guests and sponsors of the Association, raising funds and providing other means of support for IES FSV UK.
