Call for applications: UNCE Doctoral Fellowships
The Institute of Economic Studies (IES) invites applications for up to five UNCE Doctoral Fellowships. Each fellowship provides financial support of 60,000 CZK for the period January–December 2026, dedicated primarily to covering expenses related to conference participation. This is a unique opportunity to support your PhD studies, present your research at international conferences, and strengthen your academic network. The support can also be used to fund short-term stays abroad to work with a foreign consultant or co-author on a research paper that will be included in the dissertation, and covering research-related expenses (submission fees, language edits etc.). Part of the fellowship (up to 25,000 CZK) can also be paid out as a one-off scholarship.
The fellowship will support research on topics with the potential for high-quality publication in the fields of economics and finance. Only PhD candidates currently enrolled in a PhD Program Ekonomie a finance / Economics and Finance (both in present and combined form) at IES are eligible to apply.
Applications must include:
- A brief (2-page max) project proposal with clearly specified outcomes, either a paper (or papers) ready for submission, or a work-in-progress suitable for presentation at important conferences and workshops
- A preliminary list of conferences considered for attending in 2026 to present the planned paper(s) or work in progress
- For short-term stay abroad: description of the planned stay (institution, department, counterpart’s name and short bio, period), and a letter of acceptance
- CV
- List of publications, if any
- List of work-in-progress publications (for each paper, include information about past and upcoming presentations at the conferences and seminars, whether it is already out as a Working Paper, a preliminary date of expected submission, and your submission tree)
- Date of planned state doctoral examination/colloquium and dissertation defense
A Committee appointed by IES Director and composed of three senior IES academic staff will assess the proposals and select the recipients of the UNCE Fellowship.
